For the Retrograde upright arcade machine, we supply as standard in oak, macassar ebony or American black walnut veneers for the sides. The central panels are hi-gloss black and a black acoustically transparent weave to cover the woofers.

The macassar ebony is an engineered veneer. Containing dark brown stripes mixed with orange-yellow, it gives an interesting and contrasting finish.

American black walnut veneer is a medium-dark wood ranging from milk to dark chocolate in colour. The slightly open grain is generally straight, but can be wavy.

Oak grain finishes are usually straight, but irregular or cross grain can occur including some small knots. Like walnut, oak is extremely durable.

If you’re after something different, get in contact to tell us your ideas and we can discuss the options.

Like to be in charge of your own hardware? We can supply your arcade table with or without a PC installed. You can see the PC specification currently shipping in the Detail tab.

If you’d like to discuss a custom spec, just drop us an email.

We’ve used Shuttle for our arcade systems for over 6 years as a testament to their reliability.

First off, what is the marquee? It’s the panel section that’s visible at the top of the arcade machine which on the original arcade cabinets showed the game’s title (Defender, Galaxian etc.). This is illuminated from the rear when the machine is powered up.

It is an acrylic panel which as standard will come with clean and simple surface tension branding. Screen printed in order to not let light bleed through the black section, yet illuminate the white and blue.

You can also choose to supply your own artwork which will be printed and applied to the acrylic. This will allow the light to pass through the whole area.

If you’re looking for us to help design a bespoke arcade marquee, select this option and we’ll be in contact post-sale to discuss costs and get this underway.

For any supplied or bespoke artwork, we would need the supplied area to be 669mm x 166mm at 300dpi. The visible area would then be 649mm x 126mm.

We can’t help with fingerprints, but we do recommend and install ESET‘s NOD32 to help keep your Windows OS clean. Available as 1, 2 or 3 year options.

Of course, some things are personal preference. So if you’d prefer an alternative were installed, we can do that for you or leave it up to you.

If you have an existing Sonos setup, we’ll install a Sonos Connect into the storage unit. Then the Retrograde arcade machine can join the party with the rest of your Sonos network.

If you’re going to be hiding your keyboard, remotes and gamepads away in the upright’s storage compartment, you’ll want to see what you’re doing. Select this option to have your storage softly come to life whenever you open the door with the discreetly integrated ice white or cool blue courtesy LEDs.

Click the LED remote, switch off the main lights and settle down for a good gaming session with some adjustable mood lighting.

As well as have your arcade provide the the music for your party, why not have it supply the lighting too? Set to your favourite colour or pattern, have it match your surroundings, or just blend in with your existing LED lighting.

Included is a remote control, which when not in use this can be hidden away in the storage compartment. The RGB LED strip is discreetly installed underneath the unit and can be adjusted to give a dim glow or a bright light when running one of the many colour sequences or simply set to one colour. It’s also functional whether to table is on or off.

Our refined stand-up arcade machine. Veneered side panels in macassar ebony and walnut as standard, with black centre from top to toe.

Starting at the top, you’ve got the backlit marquee with a  pair of flush-mounted tweeters nestled underneath. Then comes the toughened, tinted glass that covers the 24″ LCD. This leads down to the control panel, with all black components in keep with the central flow. The woofers sit in the front face, overlaid with acoustic cloth. The panel nearest the floor lifts up and lights up to give you access to the computer as well as some storage for your stuff.

Drawing inspiration from the classic Taito cabinet, Retrograde was designed with a laid-back look. The screen positioned at an angle, plus a slight slant on the control panel makes it easier on those long competitive sessions. With the control panel at 65cm wide, stand shoulder-to-shouder with your enemy as you battle it out.

The discreet speaker design more than holds its own when it comes to audio. But it’s also discrete with the tweeters under the marquee and the woofers front centre. Focused on the players to get you right in the mood for some button bashing. When it’s time to take a rest, log in to Spotify and turn up the volume. Or hook up via HDMI and connect to Netflix for video streaming to your TV in 1080p. Retrograde is the best piece of furniture you could have when you’ve got a few friends over.

Manufactured in the UK and just like our arcade coffee tables, this upright arcade cabinet is a rock-solid, serious piece of furniture. We ship worldwide and fully assembled and configured to your voltage supply.

Your surface tension arcade cabinet is not limited to the games that come pre-installed. Because it is MAME-compatible you can add whatever retro arcade games you like. Plus the GameEx front-end makes that simple.

More retro-gaming

We all know that retro-gaming wasn’t just arcades. The GameEx front-end makes it easy for you to add older console and home-computer systems too.

Indie games

If you’re a fan of indie games, you can set up your cabinet to play games from online outlets such as Steam.

Can I have a different finish to the sides to match my home?

No problem, though there will be an additional charge and it may take a little longer

Is it easy to move?

The Retrograde cabinet has castors on the back which allow you to easily move it into position.

What’s the lead time if I order my arcade cabinet now?

Lead times vary depending on stock levels but we suggest 6 weeks as a guide. We will get in touch after order to give an estimated lead time, but feel free to get in contact before ordering.

Do you ship worldwide?

Yes! From the USA to UAE, Austria to Australia, we ship our arcade systems globally by sea and air freight. We have them professionally packed to ensure they arrive exactly as they left.

How much does it cost to ship to my country?

Use the drop-down box to determine the cost. If your location isn’t shown, just drop us an email and we’ll find out for you.

Will it work with my country’s mains voltage or will I need an adaptor?

Our arcade systems are configured to work in the country they are being shipped to. So no need for any transformers or adaptors.

What sort of power connector will I need?

If you’re in the UK, we ship with power lead. For those outside the UK, you need a standard power cable with a C13 type connector (like the one that plugs into the back of your PC).

Can I add my own emulators and games?

Sure you can! The GameEx front-end make that simple.

I see reflections on the glass, would I need to close the curtains to play it?

On an incredibly sunny day where you should be outside playing, yes you may need to.

I live outside of the EU, so am I liable for UK VAT?

No. UK VAT is only charged to residents of the EU.
